The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s New Music Festival runs from June 21-23, and is a celebration of contemporary music and groundbreaking composers. On Thursday, the festival continued with a chamber music concert that Inbal Segev performed in and co-curated. The concert featured new music by Thierry de Mey, Du Yun, Dan Visconti, Osvaldo Golijov, and James Macmillan.

The Baltimore Sun called the compositions “imaginative,” and the performances “vibrant and persuasive.” Inbal performed Osvaldo Golijov’s piece, “Mariel” alongside percussionist Svet Stoyanov on marimba. The duo was hailed as “exquisite” and “haunting” (The Baltimore Sun). 

Inbal then joined violinists Audrey Wright and Kevin Smith, and violist Jacob Shack in performing Du Yun’s multimedia piece, “Tattooed in Snow.” The Baltimore Sun called the performance “tight” and “nuanced.”
